How to paint a BattleMech the nice way.

In the past, I showed you how to paint a BattleMech the fast and easy way using Speed Paints.

This tutorial is aimed at intermediate level painters. It uses some more advanced, but easy, techniques, like edge highlighting, wet blending, and oil washes.

Also, this tutorial is intended as a sequential painting guide for what you’ll need to do at each step, rather than an in-depth lesson of the different techniques. I have covered and will cover some of these techniques in later tutorials.

On the other hand, you won’t need an airbrush to follow this tutorial.

To illustrate the different steps, I went for the iconic paint scheme of the 1st Davion Guards.

How to paint a BattleMech (the nice way)

And that’s how you paint a BattleMech, from bare metal, plastic or resin to a fully realized miniature walking tank! With careful layering, attention to detail, and a bit of patience, you’ve transformed a simple model into something that tells a story of countless battles and hard-fought victories. Whether you chose bold, striking colors or a weathered, battle-worn finish, your Mech now carries its own unique identity onto the hexagonal battlefields.
