Under the warren grounds of battles long passed, a sea of corpses lies in wait to be resurrected by mysterious powers. Once back on the surface, these zombies roam battlefields moving rhythmically back and forth, as if they were dancing the danse macabre.
One Page Rules Age of Fantasy – Danse Macabre
We played the Danse Macabre Scenario for One Page Rules Age of Fantasy using two Undead armies clashing on a 6 x 4 battlefield. Straightaway we agreed on around 1000 points for our forces.
Deployment
Thus we deployed the two armies on the 2 short edges of the table in a kind of triangular zone.
The Danse Macabre
The particular extra of this scenario are the 2D6 zombies which pop up close to the objective markers, randomly move and attack the closest unit if within 6″. This proved to weaken the units from both sides before they were able to charge each other.
Ending in a pile of bones and rotten flesh
Overall the battle proved to be a big mess in the end, where undead were fighting other undead and the game controlled zombies were attacking everyone. Furthermore Pennywise, the Ghoul leader could not impress his undead foes with his Nightbringer ability (influencing morale). After all Undead are not very impressed by Morale checks…
Eventually we had the same number of victory points ending the Danse Macabre in a draw.
Afterwards we decided to carry on with the next 1000 points One Page Rules Age of Fantasy battle: Havoc Warriors vs. High Elves.
